You can replace the entire section if you are willing to chisel out the rest of the "lip" that sits under the bottom board. Bunnings sell 8mm x 8mm strips which are the perfect size. You can glue them in place and then use small nails to help support the bottom board. From smaller areas, try what Rob suggests or use Builder's Bog or similar.
