Ok stupid question but I am just wanting to be certain and rule out things.

neon tube is not working so I just want to confirm how it gets connected.
do I connect the thicker wires to both ends of the tube?
I tested it with a 9V battery this way and it lights up but nothing via the pin which would definitely mean it is an issue via the main board unless there is something else I should be checking
