UPDATE.

I have seen this happen on my various BNIB Sterns from time to time and I remembered tonight exactly what causes it so other members can understand when doing firmware or software updates. What you suggested Nino is sort of close but in a different way. Let me explain.
But your post made me think about the issue so I am glad I saw your post.

All my Sterns are bought from AMD and are definate proper Australian Imports.

OK, this is how that message appears on ANY Stern machine from the last 5 or more years.

1. When following the Stern instructions to do Software Updates, you first of all have to plug in the USB stick into the computer board. You then power up the game.

2. You then have to slide or switch a black switch on the computer board to allow the game to understand it's going to get a download. If you don't switch the switch on a Aussie delivered machine, that error appears.

3. To clear that message, you can either turn the machine off, OR take the USB stick back out and open n close the coin door.

So the issue will appear on any Stern DMD game that requires a USB stick to update software if u don't follow the update procedure correctly. I am pretty sure BTK requires a USB stick. Let me know if I am wrong.

I was thinking tonight about how I knew I had seen this on my various Sterns when I myself had done a software Update but had forgotten to follow the factory steps correctly and I remembered how I had fixed it.

After dinner about ten minutes ago, I replicated the exact screen on my ACDC Pro and X Men just to see if my memory was correct and I was 100 percent correct.

Another common mistake is forgetting to switch the switch back to the pre software update position.

Anyway, Sterns website has the correct and exact procedure on a downloadable PDF for software updates and AMD can email it out as well but it's on the Stern USA website.

Hope it helps anyone who has accidentally found this problem by update procedural errors like I have done myself.
