Re: Peacock inn this weekend

This week's events are being run and organised by Jimmy Angliss (currently know as Jimmy Nails).  Jimmy started up the Peacock Inn All Stars competitions, when he was an employee at the Peacock Inn.  Jimmy now lives in Queensland and works for Mountain Goat, who I believe funded Jimmy to run this.

As of a few months ago, all the machines were being provided by Cashbox Amusements (Leo).  I don't know if anyone has gotten involved since then.

Here is the email sent out in March:

10am: Warm up
11am: Shot gun start front 9 holes

Players are asked to dress in their best golfing attire. Prizes for best and worst dressed.  Players who do not dress in golf attire will be penalised 2 strokes. Ha!

Quick Overview

Golfers play through 2 rounds of Pin-Golf made up of 9 Pin-Holes. The Pin-Strokes earned over those 2 rounds will determine a winner. Any ties will be decided by sudden death play-off holes. There will be no finals or final round, only sudden death play-off holes to decide tied players.

Format Details

1. Qualifying Rounds

Players will complete 2 rounds of 9 Pin-Holes. Each Pin-Hole will consist of a pinball machine with a target score or achievement. The number of balls it takes for the player to reach that target/achievement score will represent the number of Pin-Strokes earned for that hole. Should a player not reach the target score within the allotted 5 balls, 6 pin strokes will be awarded for that hole.

2. Machines Chosen

Tournament games will consist of 9 games. The machines will be on site at The Peacock from Tuesday the 19th so participants have plenty of time to get familiar with game rules and develop a strategy beforehand, although this list is tentative and is subject to change leading up to the event.

3. Order of Play

Play will begin in a shot gun style format with the youngest player in the group going first. Players will be put in to groups of 4 though will attempt to reach the score or achievement in single player games. For all subsequent holes the competitor with the lowest score at the previous Pin-Hole takes the honour of going first at the next Pin-Hole. The competitor with the second lowest score plays next and so on. If two or more competitors have the same score following a Pin-Hole, they play the next Pin-Hole in the same order as at the previous Pin-Hole.

For the start of Rounds 2, the competitor with the lowest score will have honours of going first to start the round.

4. Extra Balls

All attempts will be made for extra balls to be disabled for all machines. Should a player earn an extra ball, they will play it as part of the same Pin-Stroke on that particular Pin-Hole.

Rulings and Malfunctions

All rulings and malfunctions will be based on the rules for the IFPA World Pinball Championship.

Prize Money

All entry money will go toward the major cash prizes that will be awarded to the top 5 players. Breakdown to be decided closer to the event. Hoping to get T-Shirts of the event printed and not sure yet how the cost will be covered.
