Was it converted to power ( a lightbulb?) later on or do you think it was standard?
If standard then 1895 is very very early in the days of domestic power supplies... the lightbulb as a commercial invention was in its infancy and some cities in Australia didn't have electricity in 1895.
It is a wonderful piece and ive longed for one for many years but came to the conclusion that id never own one due to price and rarity. I didn't know until I saw this one that Australia made their own!
So in that respect, it is rarer than the ones ive often drooled over.
Amazing and its now the one piece of your collection id like to own the most.

...BTW - the Charlie Chaplin card reels are still quite readily available ( well compared to the smut variety).. they are not that cheap to buy but you can still get ones of a more adult nature... some are very hardcore!
