Now that the channel has arrived, we can replace the rusted lift channel. Sometimes this looks like a risky process, but it is VERY easy if you take your time..
Here's the old rusted channel ;
The channel is held in place by three black adhesive strips that hold it in place VERY tightly. The trick is to heat up the strips and simply remove the channel with ease. I use a heat gun on low setting, but keep a block of timber handy to protect the glass ;
The timber block in position ;
From 20cm away, on high heat for 10-20 seconds..
It just peels away so easily !
