I think all machines of this era from all manufacturers have this tack in place for the exact reason mentioned - to stop the coin door plate or button dinting the cab..
It takes HOURS to do this kind of work - and you need to be dedicated to the task - which you have shown here in bucketloads !
The more time you put in - the better the results.
