Flipper nut would be a m6 or 1/4"? Just about reef on it until it breaks the end off the bolt - wont be that strong!

Probably way too late - did you try tightening it further before loosening it?

If you are squeezing that tight on a nut that small it has probably distorted anyway! See angle grinder comment above!
