Also depends on the type of lamp socket too.  I've always had difficulty with the metal strip types and can be a pain to get out.  I've always replaced them with the later type:

I'm ahead of you Marty, got some from Greg ages ago and also just ordered from Mark the pop bumper special which looks like they may have the same type??
