Marty,
This might sound silly but as I take each screw out from under the playfield I put it in the same place on the 'new' playfield.
This has helped me a heap - seems simple but saves alot of time
Actually I think I did that as well - kept things simple.
This is NOT as daunting as a task as you may believe it to be...I know I was surprised...
