Sounds like a short is putting a higher voltage into your lamps. Fitting resistors may?? fix the problem but it is fixing the symptoms only and does not address the root cause (short).
You really need to dig deeper and find out where the additional voltage is coming from. Do you have schematics for the game that you can scan and email to me and I may or others on here, may be able to help further.
