Interesting problem - Check the CPU board and report back with the number of flashes. There should be a "flicker" on power up and then any number of flashes - A good board has 7 flashes.
Look for anything unusual - have a whiff of the backbox boards.
Reseat all connectors on the CPU board (with the machine off).
