I think we are doing a lot better than most other countries around the world - not because of what WE are doing (as a country), it is more that we "look good" because everyone else seems to be doing very bad - kinda "props us up" a bit ! Our Health system is better than most parts of the world - but we are having HUGE problems in that area. We have a system of Government that promises EVERYTHING around this time of the "cycle" as we are about to go to an Election. Taxes are still taxes and Banks are the biggest thieves in our society.
Unemployment is not such a huge problem, but there are still bludgers !
I've travelled the world a few times and I'm glad I'm an Aussie. If you are a skilled worker - you should be invited with open arms.
