I work with big injection molding tools - the faces are that shiny, the thing will rust if you leave it open for 8 hours exposed to atmosphere.
WD-40 / CRC would do at a pinch. (CRC Marine is the better product IMO)
I found INOX brilliant for low-odor stuff (I.E. inside doors etc) - but I reckon it dries too quick?
Industrial / bearing supply shops will sell you anti-rust spray - this is slightly tacky and sticks to a polished surface.
Chain lube is very sticky if you can get hold of some?
If it's in a sealed bag - just drown it with whatever you like - squeeze out the air in the bag before sealing.
