Had the same problem once. Ended up replacing all the transistors on the Bi-Directional Motor Board. 2x TIP102 and 2x TIP107. There's also another TIP102 transistor plus an IC (LM339). So if you don't know how to circuit test (but are handy with a soldering iron), then just the replacement of all these main components will almost certainly solve the problem.
