Re: transport company

There are a few companies that don't "deliberately" make mistakes, but their service leaves a lot to be desired. In many cases, a big company will often sub out a smaller, local company to pick up and deliver to their depot. The machine then sits there for weeks until loaded into the big truck. I ALWAYS ask for a tail lift or ramp AND two blokes to load the machine(s). I've had a 75 year old bloke turn up with a ute (no tail lift) and expected me to load it for him. I sent him away after taking the afternoon off waiting for him. Other companies schedule pickup and don't turn up. A recent pickup (to Adelaide from Melbourne) told me "we don't pick up after 2:00 PM". To make matters worse, the company asked me to "leave the game on the verandah", and they will pick up "during the day". I told the transport company "I don't have a verandah, it has been raining for 3 days in a row and I won't leave it outside without the buyer's consent". I then didn't hear a WORD from them for a week !

I used to use "Alladin's on the move", as the owner is a collector and his guys look after the games. The owner retired and then got bored, so he started up "The Overlanders" and I've used them a few times. No problems - they send out the ACTUAL truck doing the run, with a ramp and at least one helper.

I'm REALLY careful with my packing, as I find it hard to trust a game travelling in the back of a truck. I feel a lot better once I know the guys who pick up games regularly.
