If it's just firing and then switching off then it maybe switch related , but if it's coming on and locking on for a period of time then their could be something wrong on the driverboard with one of the transistors as previously mentioned.
Also follow the thin wire coming from the coil to make sure it hasn't rubbed though on something and shorting to ground causing the coil to fire.
