bump - just donated

Here is what one of the organisers had to say

"Just to clarify, the tv stands and many of the "papa hq upgrades" are being designed in a way that they are mobile/ transportable to other events. The screen stands fold down and can be disassembled quickly, for instance, and set up while we broadcast in different tournament venues around the country. The idea is to help drive the spectacle of all events higher, not just our own, to turn as many heads as possible and drive more people to the game.

Having said that, we did recognize there were more immediate wants that could help improve the direct feed, so we backpeddled a bit and are going those routes first for maximum possible outreach. (we read these threads and drew several good ideas!). The other expansion ideas are still on the list, but the priority of a few items got swapped.

As the equipment purchases slow down or become redundant, the biggest issue we have at this point is one of basic travel. It's really not very sexy compared to special lenses and such, but when you're talking about tens of thousands of miles per year in travel to help run events, do interviews, reviews, etc, it is a major consideration.

Finally, speaking of travel, I would like to speak with any major parts dealers, major pinball mod creators, extreme hobbyists, owners of great collections and/or arcades, part suppliers, playfield artists, both touchup and original, and others of similar situations or general pinball enthusiasts. Please email me. With the seeming success of the kickstarter to date, it's time to start organizing some of the non-competition pinball content for the community in the way of interviews, product or location reviews and such. As long as you are in America or Canada, you are within reach of this project. If you fellow pinsiders know of anyone who isn't on pinside who would be good to include or contact, please drop a note in this thread.

Thank you all for being so generous!"

also the token they give away with donating is for those that like the arcade type stuff, here are there previous tokens used over the years at PAPA, cool touch for PAPA location

ok, kickstarter campaign is over and the following was achieved which is great for pinball exposure:

- $20k for PAPA TV

total raised was almost $58808 with 724 backers, so the following stretch goals were achieved:
- $25k point - build a broadcast studio
- $32.5k point - will add speciality cameras to the recording rig (slow motion, dynamic range, custom built tilt cam)
- $37.5k point - smooth HD glass for glare free broadcasts, upgraded cameras with superior optics and wireless microphones to capture player sounds
- $50k point - travel and record at PAPA Circuit Tournament "It Never Drains in Southern California in Jan 2014, content for a monthly show with stops at arcades, private collections, interviews with pinball personalities and visits to local leagues.
- $57.5k point - develop and release a free mobile app for PAPA TV - information for competitive players, rulesheets, tutorials and gameplay videos as well as live tournament updates, annotated playfields, league features and more.

so expect to see better and more coverage not just on the computer but on phones and hopefully ipads  #*#

That is Jon Replogle and Mark Steinem, playing Fish Tales while fishing. These photos were snapped by a passer-by and went a little viral. Here's what Mark has to say:

"This will be 90 seconds worth of material for a PAPAtv episode released sometime later this year. We will be and have been taking numerous games to unusual places to generate interviews with random people, interest in the game, and interesting footage. This photo is of one of those trips that has leaked out, and shockingly fast...

PAPAtv will be many things."

Love that power lead floating in the water!!
“If you wanna escape, go up to a pinball machine. There’s a magic button on the front that takes you to a world under the glass and makes the the rest of the universe disappear.”

Tough to adjust after the nuts rust.

I suggest they try my Flash in a bad thunderstorm. Electrifying!

If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,
