Stern Playboy - DMD Dodgey
« on: July 21, 2013, 06:23:24 PM »
Hi,

I've got 2 Stern Playboys, one's DMD simply freezes while the machine happily plays on.  Every now and again it may come back.

I thought I'd buy a nice one with a few nice mods but it also has DMD problem, please see picture below.  I get weird shading on only a few screens, other then that the DMD is fine.

I have reseated most cables etc.  Am I on the right track?

Isolate the issue by swapping the DMDs themselves, the cables and then the DMD board. That will narrow it down to the DMD or the driver board. Is there any corrosion near the CPU / ROM / PAL chip (near the battery) ?
