Raspberry PI to drive and external display?
« on: November 22, 2013, 02:49:32 AM »
Righto - I've lost the plot. This weekend I will be setting up an R PI B to drive and external monitor show clips relevent to modes on a licenced title. (I am hoping to pull off a deal on a new game this week) the idea is that when a mode or feature is activated, an LCD sitting atop of the headbox will show scenes from the relevant movie.  The clips will be in HD and on the SD card which will also be partitioned for the Raspbian OS. It will need to be very fast and the PI has HDMI out and costs bugger all.
Has anybody done this and are you willing to share your experiences? What did you do with the sound? Did you use the PI's sound over HDMI function? How much code did you need to do and what did you use for IO from the game?

check this thread out as an alternative for the same sort of feature and has a switch system incorporated.

Wow that looks the go. I'm still going to push on the with R/PI as it can do HDMI is more suited to the mad scientist type. I'll post the code here hopefully later on today. Shouldn't be too many lines (famous last words)
