Where do you set your outlane posts?

Wanted to get any ones thoughts on setting the out lane posts on your machines. In for 3 balls? Out for 5 balls? I set mine out with 3 balls. I feel more accomplishment when I get a big score and it also seems to be how most arcades set them. What makes you decide where to set them?

if the ball seems to go down the outlane too often then I will close the gap

I do not want an easy game, but I do not want a drain monster either

Mostly set them half way, and sometimes fully open if too easy.

I have mine set at the lowest, I'll say it's to stop the kids getting too frustrated but the same applies to me. Nothing worse than a side drain you can do nothing about

Same for me. if i find a game too easy to play i'll set the outlane posts to the widest positions, Kiss is one game of mine that comes to mind where i did this.
After looking at my Stern Galaxy pf last nite, it has 3 positions for the outlane posts, now that game is way too easy imo so its going to get the same

I would agree that. I guess it is trying to get the mix right for your own circumstance and ablility. I am no wizard but I do get bored with a game that seems to never end. I might have a tinker with my machines to see the effect.

You inspired me to pull my finger out today and finally bring the posts in one hole on my acdc. Been meaning to do it for ages but its a bit of a pain on the acdc because you have to move ramps to get to them. Anyway after an hour or so it's done and I'm glad it is plays much better now.

Yes. Moved the posts in my WCS today and it makes a big difference. I think I'll move them out slowly til I am happy with the difficultly of the game.
