Theater of Magic drain eddy switch fault help please!
« on: February 20, 2014, 05:44:06 PM »
I am getting an error message regarding my right drain eddy switch (#48) and at the same time my drain magnets do not get activated during the game. They work when I do the diagnostic and test them but do not turn on during the game.
Now I looked for that switch #48 but I can't find it. Is it part of the eddy sensor assembly? Can someone explain how the machine knows that the ball is about to drain? I assume that switch #48 is involved in turning on the magnet.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
Babak

Should be an individual eddy board under the playfield, near the right outlane.

Check to see if the led is lit and if so adjust the pot on the board until the led just goes out.
Then try running  a ball over the top of the switch to see if the led lights when the ball is sensed.

If your led is out to start with and not responding to ball passes, you can adjust the pot until the led lights, then back it off slightly until it goes out again.

Also try reseating the connector to this eddy board.

Thanks for the help. I already had reseated the connectors. First thing I always do.
Will try the readjusting of the eddy board. Great tip did not know it was adjustable.

Another option:

Prop the playfield into vertical position and then turn on the machine.

Watch the LED for the eddy sensor, from memory it should turn on straight away and then gradually flicker off.

If it doesn't do this, the pot needs adjusting as mentioned above.
