while i was having the best time of my life holidaying in qld,my house here in sa nearly burt down.got a phone call friday afternoon 17 th jan saying " i hope your house insurance is paid up".
The call was from a mate in neighbouring town of tungkillo.My town was evacuated shortly after the call.I was not to concerned at the time,but on returning to sa and seeing the devistation,made me wake up to  the reality of it all.

my house was just the other side of the road.There was a sudden wind change around 6pm that day that saved my house and 30 something pinnys.I was lucky this time.

Blimey, they can do the next Mad Max sequel there. Good to hear that the wind blew in your favour. Now you need to pretty the place up before you can sell.

It is a bit hard to tell from the photos i have,but 28 homes were lost that day.The wind was travelling at 70km/hr and burnt 42000 hectares and streached for 42 killometers from sanderston to truro.I am fortunate in a way that i wasn't here.But a lot of people were affected and there were huge losses of sheep.Luckily no human lives that i know of.

Bad part is the devastation and potential loss of lives and belongings. Good part is that all survived and belongings can be replaced.
