TZ, weak kicker
« on: October 08, 2014, 07:52:53 AM »
I pulled my TZ out of storage

The kicker that puts the ball into the shooterlane is weak and won'tkick the ball out of the trough
I have tried twisting the kicker arm to make better contact
I have cleaned the assembly
I have replaced the coil
Nothing seems to be catching the ball in the trough

Anything else I can try?

Thanks

I think TZ is one where it has a half hook part of the assembly with a spring attached... is so, did you check for it binding there and removing old grease? I've had a few machines that needed a good clean with shellite and removal of old grease from pivot points.

yes, that is the assembly
I have taken it apart and cleaned it

Bad connector on the driver board maybe? Had an issue were my Addams thing hole solenoid was not strong enough to kick out the ball. Tried everything you did. In the end I simply re-seated the solenoid output and transformer inputs connectors on the driver board which solved the problem for a short time. Ended up replacing the header pins and connectors.

OK, pulled out the board and cleaned the connector pins
kicker works better, but I think I will have to clean the plugs as well

but I am on the right track,
thanks :)

Good news!  ^^^ It makes sense if the machine has been in storage for a long time to have some slight corrosion on the pins. If it does turns out to be the problem you will most likely have to replace them. It was about 2 weeks before the problem returned on my machine so then I bit the bullet and replaced them. Haven't had an issue since.
