What is best to use when cleaning Molex (?) pins
« on: May 22, 2012, 06:53:32 PM »
I want to clean the connecting pins on the circuit boards in my Flash Gordon
(I will eventually change the plugs, but that is a job for another day)
What is right cleaning fluid for the job?

Pete

Metho or isopropyl alcohol - works a treat.

I also put the female side in a bowl.. sprinkle some Bicarb over them and then vinegar... fizzes up and takes off a lot of the grime inside... make sure you rinse off and dry well before connecting again though

I do that as well but they tend to scream and wriggle about a lot - - - oh wait, you mean connectors.......I see.........

OK, another game, same problem

pulled an old game out of storage, only a handful of lamps worked
I have used metho, and got a few more going
but the pins look like they are still dirty

will a dremel and a cutting compound clean them up?
(open to other suggestions before I replace them)
