Hi all,
My first post on AP. This was posted on AA originally, but it was suggested I also post this warning on AP just in case.
""Hi all,
About a month ago I had an unknown transaction on one of my Nab Visa cards for $930 from Western Union. Ive never made a Western Union transaction before, so I reported it as Fraud with NAB. They cancelled the card and 2 weeks later NAB have reimbursed me for the $930.
Today I received from NAB all the documents that Western Union gave them in relation to the transaction so I could confirm the dispute. On the documents were all the Western Union transaction details including sender address, name etc.
The name looked familiar, so I did some google searching, and his details were linked to Pinball videos on restoration etc. WTF?
Turns out the transaction was made using (another AA users) Name and address, but my credit card number and phone number! Ive since spoken to (the other AA user) and it seems the obvious explanation is an overseas pinball supplies website that we both have used in the past has been hacked at some point. They obviously got a mixed up list of credit card details and names/addresses and have been trying to match them and make fraudulent transactions.
This is the 2nd card in 3 months Ive had to cancel due to fraud. Im guessing both of my cards were on the same list.
So posting it here because most of AA's pinball members are probably on the same list. Check your statements! Im going to get a low limit card that I only use for internet transactions (probably should have done it a while ago).
Mark""
So far 6 AA users have had the exact same experience so we are trying to work out which site it might have been. PM me if you also have been affected. Ill post here when we think we've worked it out.
