game play mishaps
« on: January 23, 2016, 07:52:20 PM »
Played embryon today and a rather soft shot at the right single target caused this. The target reset quick enough to trap the ball and force it between the plastic and enter the chamber  @.@

What other strange things have happened to others while playing?

I once hit a shot at the trap door on my TOM at the exact time it closed. The ball was halfway over the hole but hadn't fallen down so when the door snapped closed it came down on the ball and wedged half closed on top of the Ball instead of flush on the playfield. It bent something in the assembly and it didn't line up properly when it was closed after that.

There's clearly a switch out of adjustment - and until this is fixed, I would remove those 6-32 nylon nuts and replace with the rubbers ones as you risk breaking the plastics - even though they are new plastics, I would not be running that risk.

Take the glass of and start a game. Gently drop the switch and see what happens. If nothing happens, tap the playfield in the vicinity. If it pops up, then it is a switch adjustment.

forgot about logic of the target. It shouldn't reset until captive ball hit. Thanks mate will need to investigate

On MM the right troll flap in the down position can sometimes act as a jump ramp for the ball if it has enough velocity and on one occasion has landed on top of the RHS castle tower turret like a carbon steel lookout sentry.

In the process it also hits the underside of the playfield glass hard enough to make a loud retort and giving the owner a heart attack that a $300 sheet of PDI glass is going to shatter into a million pieces before his very eyes!

Playing Avengers Hulk yesterday, the raising bridge snapped a plastic to the right of Hulk. Noticed also rubber wear in same area from metal bridge.
Turned the bridge off, no change to game. This is a poor design fault and I am sure it is not the first such break.
This is a fun and chalenging machine to play but unless in private collection, wear and tear would make sited examples poor players especially after a few years.

If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

Different Sandman model should hopefully fix this design fault.
