Found a great crimper at last
« on: April 19, 2015, 02:03:24 PM »
Just thought I'd share this with the other people out there doing restoration work.
After many years of trial, error and sore fingers I have found (for me at least) the nicest crimper to use.

After reading some positive feedback on Pinside I took the plunge and ordered the "Platinum Tools 16801 Open Barrel Contact Crimping Tool".

They seem to retail for around $20.00 or so USD.  I bought in a total of four, just to make shipping worthwhile.  The other 3 are heading to some fellow pinheads locally !

I like this tool as its comfortable, easy to use and crimps both parts at the same time.  Having done literally 100's of these before with the older tools, this ticks the box for me.

The finish is superb and the same each time.

Great tip Marty. I see you are using that new camera of yours as well  *%*

Cheap price for such a large tool - looks like it was built to last.
