I had thought that after removing the grub screws it would just drop out, but it doesn't:

Might need a gentle tap. If the grub screws have distorted the metal a little that might be preventing it from moving.

Make sure the second grub screw is also removed. From the playtfield side, grab the bat and turn it around a few times. Then, as
