Every now and again, I receive a phone call for a repair or a restoration, and I just shake my head in utter bewilderment.
A prospective customer calls me up for a repair / partial restoration, after being given "advice" from other "repairers" and "restoration businesses". A repair to a WPC game, the nature of which was not ever revealed at this stage, and the answer went along the lines of ;
"Do you even KNOW what a Pinball Restoration is ? Do you have ANY idea what you are taking about. They cost at least $10,000"
What a way to instill confidence and offer advice to a new collector in the hobby. I was happy to offer advice, and point the collector towards a solution that would cost him around $300 and he would learn how to repair his game. Took 25 minutes to explain it over the phone and I'll bet he already has the toolkit out..
I would not believe it if I didn't hear it myself !
