flipper rubber
« on: June 06, 2009, 07:13:51 PM »
I noticed on my rfm that one if not both flipper rubbers ride up on the flipper eventually. Kinda like what happens to my panty hose  && (oh no my secrets out  %.%) But seriously I re-seat it and in no time its moved up near the top. Any ideas?

Maybe they have a twist in them try removing them and putting them back on?

They maybe have just stretched?

If they're not new, I would order a couple of new ones and try them.

Remove the rubbers and put them back on 'upside down' from the way they are now, see how it goes.

Maybe if they're old/worn they're a little harder and slip along the flipper paddle as compared to new rubbers that would have more friction-grip onto the flipper-bat, as the others said "grab some newbies".

Is it also likely that you (or previous owner) may have lubed the flippers which has made it's way onto the flipper bats over time? maybe cleaning products on the playfield has done this?

Are the flippers slightly tapered to allow the rubbers to ride up maybe?

This can happen if you use Novus 2 to clean the bats and you forget to wipe off the Novus.

Orange Solvent does the same thing.

When turning the rubbers inside-out (as Marty suggests), feel the rubber texture.
