AFM Drop target problem

I have replaced the Drop target switch but drop target still not working
The switch doesnt have a diode, is this required?

When ball search occurs its pops up

When playing the game after 1st hit, it drops but never comes up

Any ideas?

Definitely a diode on the switch on mine, I'd start by installing that. Let me know if you need to know orientation of the diode.

Ive got an old diode I can remove from another switch
Are there different diodes or they are pretty much the same and which way should it be soldered?
