trying to load .hex file
« on: June 14, 2010, 10:58:32 PM »
having a problem with soundtest 128 hex file for williams sys 9 sound board
the link is here:
http://home.scarlet.be/~fb054529/will9/ewill9.htm
(thanks Dave!)
For whatever reason it will not load to the buffer in the software for my eprom programmer
a GQ universal Willem programmer.
Would anyone here have used this file and know if it is OK or not?
BTW, it could just be me, it often  is  ::)

Further to earlier posts, emailed Leon who owns the site and he said he checked the file and it is fine.
Don't suppose anyone here has used this file?
Cheers

I have a willem programmer, but I only use it for the older ROMS - Have you set the jumpers etc correctly ? Maybe a quick email to the Willem tech support ?

G'day Nino,
Helping out again!
I've got a GQ4, thankfully no jumpers involved and it does support my chip.
Have burnt other files to test no problem.
The weird thing is I can't load the hex file to the buffer.
Damned it I know what I am doing wrong.
Cheers

Found the problem!
I'll post this in case anyone else  tries to use the file.
As Nino suggested I emailed tech support, turns out the file is actually a .bin file.
Changed the file extension and bingo! loaded to the buffer and wrote to the chip immediatedly.
Now to get that bloody sound problem fixed on my machine.
Cheers

Programs just fine on my programmer. I also treat the hex file as a binary file and it works great!

Glad you figured it out!
