Strobing effect with led's

Just fitted my bbh out with leds in every insert,never fitted any above the playfield turned the lights out and had a game halfway through my eyes started getting fuzzy  . i can imagine somebody with epilepsy having a seisure if they played my pin like it is,maybe i am susceptable to the strobing effect as i did suffer from a mild form of epilepsy when i was a child,i think i will be spreading the leds between my three machines to cut down on the effect,it's a shame as it looks awesome

I have found some LEDS do strobe a bit if there are some normal bulbs left on that circuit etc and if u use the ones that are not meant to be used on a controlled circuit.

I find that all LEDS work, in all different parts of the pin, but some strobe faintly when they are not meant to. Someone who has electronics/LED knowledge on this subject may be able to tell all of us why technically .

I just fitted LEDs to my firepower project and a few do flicker when not supposed to but only very faintly

My theory is the ones that strobe on me generally are the controlled globes that tend to be programmed to dim a little during missions etc. My SWEP especially highlighted this. I also have the ability to adjust the brightness/intensity of the globes on this game and if I adjust it to full brightness the strobing is minimal or gone. I believe LED's are either ON or OFF and shouldn't be dimmed as they just try to draw more out of the circuit to get back to full power (this also will lessen there life span).

Someone could knock this or explain it better

I think you are right
I replaced the lamps on my Spidy
the mission lamps vary in brighness depending on how many times you have completed each mission
so the first times they strobe really bad

the strobing effect might be the reason stern doesnt fit led's at manufacture.

I have noticed most older machines can dim lights when both flippers are activated, would that damage the LED's aswell then?

Well i've got the strobing sorted just replaced the 12 most frequently activated inserts with regular #555's out of the 50+ leds i have under the playfield and the strobing effect has dissapeared,looks sweet the way the old bulbs and the new led's merge throughout the playfield,the led's without a doubt make the machine look fantastic.took a couple of pics but it looks very different in real life,a picture cant really capture the way they feel.
