Charlies angels Problems
« on: December 22, 2010, 07:54:49 PM »
Every time i turn on my charlies angels it is so temporamental (Is that how u spell it?)
Anyway, i used to iopen the head box and clean the board connectors and evrything was good
Not now... its decided no more. I put a coin in and it registers. i press the start button and it throws out the ball into the shooter lane and blinks off and back on and thats it. Sound board needs replacing or at least the Cap as it buzzes all the time. Pop bumpers are weak (Always have been)
I think it needs a good overhaul but not sure where to start.
Very annoying, any advise guys? Cheers Paul

Sounds like the slam switches, I had the same problem not that long ago.
Have you done the grounding upgrade and disabled the slam switches?

You could check the voltages on the power supply and also the connectors along the bottom of the CPU board for corrosion.

Apart from the Slam switch, you have already found the problem - Connectors. The connectors pins are only rated for around 20 insertions - that is disconnecting and connecting the connectors 20 times. They lose their tension and then connectivity is compromised.

It is a simple but time consuming job.

Hopefully you don't have corrosion on the CPU board that has traveled down to the connectors

Good news. No corrosion on cpu board.
Not sure how to do the grounding upgrade and disable switches.

Can i just cut the wire off all slam switches? Can anyone give me details on how to replace connectors and where i could buy the parts required? Cheers Paul
