Any Baywatch owners out there need your help
« on: August 10, 2011, 11:57:04 PM »
Hi guys fixing a baywatch for a guy and have come across something that seems strange but I'm not 100%. Everything plays fine now all switches are working all coils are working.

Start a game all is well play a full game without issue untill you get multiball...

When the balls drain nothing happens sits there for a short time then kicks out another ball into the shooter lane when that drains It goes to the next ball???    Doesn't seem normal to me bit cant find a fault as to why it does it?

Might it be that one of the ball trough switches isn't registering? I had a very similar issue with a game, and it was the first ball trough switch getting stuck so the game didn't know how many balls were in play.

I totally agree with Nick. Some Segas (most really) do exactly what u are talking about when multiball wants to start but the game can only see "some" of the trough switchs.

I probably have well over a dozen Sega's and ball trough switchs often do weird things until i get Beaky (Andrew) to fix/clean/replace them. Should be a easy clean and easy adjustment.

Will check all the switches again just to be sure.  That was my first thought but all checked out ok.   It's. Strange that the issue is only there after multiball

put the machine in switch test mode   make sure all the ball tray switches & the opto switch are working  operate the switches with your finger listen for the clicking sound   also check the solder join on the ball popper coil   run the balls through the trough make sure the switches register

best of luck
i had a problem with mine ages ago, the ball popper kept going off during play   the fix  new optos boards

Also had a Baywatch I fixed with similiar problem. The ball trough opto was hacked so threw this out and replaced with a new set from AMD. Also found a couple of diodes had come loose off some of the switches especially on a couple of the targets which I think are on the same row/column as the ball through. Also on DE/Sega games,  dry joints on the PPB board headers and relay can cause the game to kick an extra ball into the shooter lane.
