New hardware stores yet in Vic or Qld?
« on: June 10, 2011, 05:56:44 PM »
Anyone in the above states live near the site of one of the new hardware stores?
Just wondering if they are anywhere close to opening yet.
There are at least 2 Bunnings being built within 10 minutes of my place, I think they are getting worried, God forbid they may have some competition again after having the market by the short and curlies for such a long time.

Hopefully the new stores will carry a large range of stuff like most of the Lowes stores do in the USA, although I know the prices won't be as cheap.
Lets go Brandon!

Safeway is suppose to be opening Hardware stores.  The first was
to be build near (or in) Campbellfield Vic.  Not to sure how far off it is.

Will check into this.

Finally worked out the name, Masters. Opened in Braybrook just recently.
Anyone been there yet? Pics I found look like it is a similar setup to Lowes USA

I went a couple of weeks ago on their opening day. (Thurs)

Had to park down the street.
Reminded me of Home Depot.

Had more industrial tools than Bunnings and more appliances.
Some items like electric connectors where well represented I found 4 different brands in their own sections.
Almost bought a Bosch Drill,
(maybe next time)

ps. I wonder if why they changed from opening in c'field to Braybook, maybe just to throw off the opposition?

Thats what I was hoping for a decent sized hardware with a decent amount of stock and some choice.
Lowes and Home depot seem to open near each other in the US and the competition keeps the prices somewhat  reasonable.

I am hoping that they get in some halfway decent quality stock in, am tired of Bunnings being the reject shop of the hardware world and their monopoly in this country.
Whilst I am not sure that a duopoly is better at least it gives us some chance of getting decent quality materials.
