lights, camera action not working
« on: December 26, 2011, 05:53:07 PM »
it was working fine until the other day. I pressed the start button (as normal, on freeplay) and again for the second player and again for third player, but continued to show up the two player scoreboard. I turned it off and on, the lights flash on the playboard, no sound and the start button has no response.

I opened the backboard and there is 2 pcb's with a single flashing led on each.

I pushed the reset on each board one at a time but this didn't change anything

I looked around the net, but cannot find any fault finding info or manuals.
any ideas?

it works

I found this
http://www.pinrepair.com/sys3/index.htm.

and had a read. It didn't help but gave me a better understanding of the system. If it was the battery it would have shown low batt on the display with extra beeps.
I cheched the voltage of the batt and it read 3.2. The system also measures the current appartently. To change the battery looks hard as it is soldered in. How long do these batteries last as it looks original and the machine is 11 years old?

The leds on the 2 boards flashed evenly.

I stumbled across the test thing inside the coin door. I noticed that when showed freeplay, it was on NO, I changed this to YES, rebooted and now it works.
I don't know why it changed as I was previously on it.

change the battery, or it might happen again , the machine will lose its memory if the battery is flat,
not hard to change,  just solder it in  the same way it's in now

I would suggest changing the existing battery with a battery socket that allows you to change the battery with out de-soldering and re soldering.

it will lose its settings again if you do not replace it, the battery supplies power to the ram so the settings are not lost when the machine is off.
