HELP REQUIRED FOR BALLY RAPIDFIRE
« on: April 28, 2012, 11:51:12 AM »
Anyone familiar with Bally rapid fire?

Game was working 100% then stopped loading the balls there is an opto type setup in the chute which activates a triac to run the ball feed motor.  When I close the circuit manually the motor runs.

Manual says 5v unreg input and it's getting 8v which would be about right I replaced the Ic and the triac with no luck also picked up a NOS board from eBay with the same results.  So I'm guessing it's the opto type transmitters but can't fin them anywhere or I'm unsure of a substitute please help....

All I want is one complete game lol

Post a pic of the opto transmitter Daniel, so we can see what they look like. I'm guessing they might just be basic infrared LEDs  !@#
If thats what they are im pretty sure i have some!

I'll load a pic when I get a chance Mitch.   They have a gold colored housing and a clear end the transmitter and receiver look identical.

Ok well it's not the optos it's a voltage issue when the boards are unplugged there is no voltage so it's dragging earth from the board.  When I connected an earth straight from the cabinet to the pin the balls began to feed but only or a few second then it started to slow down then stop grrrrrrr

Does anyone have an original manual for rapid fire?  The online version is unreadable in the section I need (what a shock).    I've tried following the the cables but it's a nightmare under there of I can work out where it draws it's power I'll run some new wires to rule out damaged wires (highly possible in that mess
