hey guys. I have noticed the top right standard flipper cannot hold the up position well if I put a little pressure on it. The two bottom flippers are quite strong.

I have replace the coil with another spare old one and still a problem. I also notice the two bottom flippers have the yellow capacitor attached but not the top one.

1. does this flipper normally have this cap?
2. can it be causing the loss of holding strength?

Finally what could be causing the problem if not the above? Its like a can easily push it downwards and it kind of shutters a little trying to fight back.

Is it as simple as buying a rebuild kit? thanks

I forgot to mention I ground down the coil stop with no luck.

I guess my main concern is whether the yellow cap should or should not be there

installed the yellow cap and it did not solve the problem but it did rid any sparking/arcing coming from the flipper as that is what it is supposed to do. Have ordered a rebuild kit to see how it goes

The caps are usually to stop arcing, so should not impact on flipper strength.  If it is just the top flipper, and not the coil stop, the most likely culprit is the switch that feeds the top flipper (the switch outside the EOS that is pushed shut when the bottom flipper on the same side closes).  Also check the EOS on the top flipper and file or replace if the points are badly pitted.

Sounds like you are not getting the current required to give this flipper its grunt... check voltages here and also the EOS etc as BallyWannabe sugests.. guess is that you have a voltage drop

Will be the advanced EOS on the lower flipper (not giving enough power), or the EOS on the upper flipper (hold) needs a clean or adjustment.

Thank you will take a look and clean, but have ordered a rebuild kit so that should remove the bottom flipper from the equation hopefully

don't know if I have these on my game but I bought exactly a set of these for my space invaders, so got them coming if need be. BTW I did make a set for my SI out of spare bits and you're right not a simple thing to do. They work fine but that's why I bought a pair with this order. Thanks

did a rebuild on the top flipper and the shutter seems to be fixed but the flipper is very weak at the beginning. If I put the slightest of force on the flipper in the resting position, it will hum and not move. If I let it move upwards a little it seems much stronger. In the fully up position it is quite strong but if I place tension on it for say a couple of seconds it will let go.

is this eos adjustment?

before giving anyone a bum steer, I have noticed all flippers are kind of doing this. Is this normal for SS games?
