Shuffle alley help required?

Hi guys has anyone had any experience with shuffle alleys?

   First question is for anyone who has ever played one?
 Should the playfield be level?

 Mine is sloped towards the pins I'm thinking it should either be level or even sloped back towards the player so the puck doesn't get stuck up the end (it only bounces back off a rubber under the pins)


Second question is more technical.

  To reset the pins a transistor on the driverboard activated and old EM style relay which turns te motor on the motor is a cam and switch that keeps the motor turning until its completed a full cycle problem is the relay isn't being activated long enough to get the cam past the mine position.   

  For example it resets to start the game you have one round the pins try to reset but doesn't make the cycle roll again and this time the pins reset as they should.
 
    All the boards are original and I've gapped and cleaned all contacts involved.

I haven't worked on one before but think    it would need to be level. There are quite a few steps to getting the playfield clean/low friction. I think you need to clean, wax, then use shuffle alley powder and the rubber at the back needs to be fairly good condition to get the rebound.

On the motor problem, is there only one switch on the cam? A lot of EM games, have one switch to keep the motor going after initially being triggered and a second switch to turn the motor off at the end of the cycle.

   I've cut down the front legs and fitted the adjuster so now I can have it level sloped towards the pins or towards me.   Having it level still needs a fair old throw but is way better.  I have the shuffle alley wax and its amazing the puck slides about 30cm without it sprinkle the alley with the wax (seriously feels like beach sand) and it slides the whole length.

As for the resetting issue.  The motor cam has one notch cut out which is almost quarter of the cam.   Has two switches but both are open during the notch and closed when turning. 

  I had an idea this arvo that maybe the pins are to tight so ill disconnect them and see if it makes a cycle then.

    Fingers crossed because once that's done I can start the fun bit the restore ;)
