Joker Poker Backglass
« on: April 10, 2013, 01:56:08 PM »
I had a guy call me in response to my local trader advert for signs and decals made. He asked if I could make a new backglass decal for his Joker Poker. I thought about it but first wondered if there were any reproductions available.
Doing a quick search on repro backglass came up empty.

So I'm wondering two things (or maybe more), Is there a back glass available for this machine or is it a case of make your own.
I've never tried to recreate something this big. I do a lot of Honda Motorcycle Decals so I guess this is just on a bigger scale.
However when I make a decal I run a NOS decal through my scanner and import it in to my drawing app.
Then hand draw every line and fill, adjust for any registration errors and then send it to the printer.

There is so much detail in a backglass that my method would take a long time. Plus you would need a big scanner to scan a backglass, or else do it in sections and then stitch it back together
Anyway, just fishing for tips, please let me know your thoughts and ideas

Cheers

Classic Playfields did a run of 350 last year. They literally sold on within a week and had very limited numbers to send to distributors (if any). I'm told there will be another run around the time of the playfields.

Now you need to be careful with a reproduction backglass that you intend on selling. There are license fees applicable to Gottlieb, and any repros need to be checked with Pinball resource and Gottlieb prior to proceeding. There are two license holders in Australia - Flipperresue and Pinballrescue. Shay Group are the licensee for Gottlieb backglasses and Classicplayfields were the licensee for Target Alpha and Joker Poker.

Under the "right to restore" - you can repro the backglass as part of a restoration of your own game.

If I were you, I'd wait for CPR to do their second run.

Nino, was there any indication of when they may be doing the run of playfields and hopefully backglasses?

Hopefully this "fall" or shortly thereafter - that's just for the backglass as they had more orders than BG's made.
