Common problems for multiple flippers
« on: November 05, 2013, 12:01:14 AM »
Hi,
Is there a possibility and how likely is it that I can have a common problem to both my upper flippers on the Addams? I recently had a bit of a party, so they have had a bit of a work out as it were. Finding last night that both left and right upper flippers are sluggish and wondering if there could be a common problem, such as voltage issues etc. My gut feeling suggests that both coils need replacing as a minimum, if not time for a complete overhaul. Both lower flippers seem to be performing ok.

It is VERY unlikely to need coils - they basically work or they don't. Coils don't get "sluggish"

I would start by installing two overhaul kits - plungers, coil sleeve, springs etc.

+1.  Every possibility that the main/lower flippers have been re-built and the upper ones haven't been.

Could simply be the EOS (End of Stroke) switches are out of adjustment.

You can check for a physical issue by manually moving the flippers up and down with the game off.

Were the upper flippers working well prior to the party? Or have they deteriorated suddenly?

The flippers were working fine before the party, the upper left seems as if only one of the coils is firing (the one to hold the flipper out) as it's gutless!
