grr ebay motherboard
« on: November 14, 2013, 06:43:07 PM »
Arguing with someone on ebay who sold me a BRAND NEW motherboard and when I inspected it I stated it was definitely used, in fact reconditioned..

Their response of course was it was only tested which he had to do, rubbish you don't test new products, but worse it looks like trace repairs to me, what do you guys think? definitely trace repairs?

Of course he claims he didn't notice, stands out like a sore thumb to me?

I agree, since when do you test a new item  *.* - that makes it used in my books.

I'm sure sending a copy of the photo to Gigabyte would confirm it wouldn't leave the factory with traces like that.

sending the photo also to ebay will help with your claim against the seller, CLEARLY NOT NEW, ebay will re-examine the text in the auction where it states "new motherboard" and then favour your side of the claim.

But do it ASAP before you run out of time to claim and lose altogether.......

Yeah the dispute is open, he actually apologised after he saw I opened a dispute with links to the photo, he said he thought it "looked to be in new condition".. hilarious he has no idea of the history of the motherboards he sells and if it "looks new" then he lists it as being "brand new"..  &^&

He agreed to do refund but thanks to paypal rules I am still out the return postage, well at least I don't have to keep it, I don't trust that motherboard...

I have over 700 trades on ebay, around 500 of them purchases and I only ever have this kind of issue with Aussie sellers.. very frustrating, and they act all innocent like they had no idea when it is proven they were in the wrong..

I'd say its been a manufactured refurb / repair.

A lot of laptop and other computer equipment get sold on eBay this way to the unsuspecting as well.

If its a motherboard for a work / study use at home I would be always cautious buying s/h motherboards on eBay.  Bent pins, been overclocked, overheated etc its a big gamble.

Was mainly because I was looking for older/earlier 775 pin board, long story, would never buy a current generation one on ebay..
