Depends on which state your're in.

Down here, yellow cabs are actually cab yellow.  Having said that I've seen at least 100 different shades of cab yellow.

A very good mate is a full time panel beater / spray painter for a cab company.

I guess before the taxi reforms of many years ago, they could be any colour.  I can't remember if Silvertop had silver roofs painted, but I think it changed with the yellow around the EB falcon '94ish?

I'm pretty sure that the roofs were actually silver on the silver top taxi fleet

They definitely were silver tops . The pillars and roof were a matte silver. I remember the xd, xe & xf falcons getting around in that paint scheme.

I asked a cabby up here at the depot my brother buys his LPG from at a discount rate.

Apparently, YELLOW is one of the most disliked colours of the colour spectrum, espescially when market researched with women he told me.

What colour is vomit or diorreah ........say no more.

Glad they are orange.......yellow looks crap unless its on the bumblebee Camaro from the transformers movie.lol

Yellow V8 Bumblebee Camaro taxis in Australia, YES Please...... *%*

Working where I work there is plenty of contact with Taxi's.
The cars when damaged get repaired and painted quickly and put back on the road....thats where they make money.

Pigments in yellow paint also fade very quickly, a common issue which is why there are not many yellow cars on the road.

+1 for the silvertop stuff.

Simon.
