coil sleeves
« on: January 25, 2014, 10:46:30 AM »
how do you work out the correct sleeves to buy for a certain coil  ? is there a certain way to measure them? also when looking on websites they don't really have physical sizes of sleeve.

They are often denoted in manuals ;

DMDs - they are in the relevant assembly drawings
SS - You need the service manuals
EM - You need the service manuals

There are "GTB Standard" and "WMS Standard" Coil sleeves. You can also just measure the old sleeve and then compare it to the ones sold at RTBB ;

If unsure, always get ones that are too long.. they can be cut down to correct size with a sharp scalpel

I just fitted a coil sleeve to my JD shooter as it was missing. What a difference the ball now fires into play like a rocket! Unfortunatley it also centre drains most if the time- some alignment may be needed.

I just measured the coils dimensions with vernias to get the right one. Coil sleeves are good!

Yep shooter sleeves are missed many times.  If a games shopped properly,  and I mean all parts,  all sleeves must be done too.

I've seen so many games "restored" that have not had the sleeves replaced. They are cheap to replace, but the labour to remove them must be the problem  %.% - Or the possibility (the guarantee) that they will find broken yokes etc..
