« on: March 14, 2014, 12:18:16 PM »
Hello there,

I'm new to this forum and have joined to ask if anyone can recommend to me a good service/repair man to look at my Twilight Zone machine.

When i press either flipper button the machine turns off and resets

appreciate anyone's help in advance

cheers,

Pete

Hi Pete,

Resets can be due to a number of things which some can be an easy fix and some a little more technical.

If your a hands off type of person, check out the sponsors section on here:

APR might be your best bet, depending where in Melb your are.  If you're out Geelong way there are some members on here who can probably assist as well.

Yes,  a VERY commom WMS era problem - unfortunately with ten possible solutions or sometimes a combination of them all for a full fix.

Remember these machines are now OVER 20 years old and were never intended to last this long - modern consumer electronics has an estimated life of five years maximum - what I'm saying is you should prepare your wallet for a sizable hit.

I'm flat chat at the moment moving premises, but if there's an option to bring the game to me, then I can go over it. It sounds like a common driver board problem, but it is best to cover all bases with connectors, repining etc.

PM me if interested

Whilst you are waiting for a tech try this -

Turn off the machine.

1. Open the backbox.
2. Go to right hand side of the power driver board (largest green board) and locate connector J101.
3. Unplug it and plug it back in a couple of times.
4. Reboot the machine, hit the flippers and see it you still get resets.

Also plug the machine directly into the power outlet, don't use an extension cord or multi adaptor outlet.
