Gottlieb Sys1 Flipper Rebuild Question
« on: April 16, 2014, 10:41:00 PM »
Hi all
Doing my first ever flipper rebuild on the Sinbad, all is fine and straight forward aside for 1 step.

How on earth do i remove the metal piston from the metal bracket housing?
They are held together via the plastic show which has a metal pin through the shoe and either of the metal bracket housing.
Its a right royal biach to remove this pin....

Any suggestions?

It's a pain but you have to use a punch to get the pin out. Here's some pics that I found useful when I had to do it for the first time.

Yea, i ended up using a socket from a socket set to rest the piston and bracket on, then slid a small size electrical screwdriver into the pin so that the sleeve of the screwdriver fit snug on top of the pin, slowly tapped away and the pin eventually came out the bottom, into the socket.

Difficult to explain in words, but i got there in the end.

If you think you will be buying anymore Sys 1 machines, buy yourself a pin punch set.  Not that cheap but they make this particular job so much easier.

Congrats on the game by the way.  Sinbad is one of the best Sys 1 machines.  It always gets alot of love when I have mates over.
Addicted to pins.
