RFM Resetting
« on: June 09, 2014, 09:39:28 AM »
My RFM has decided to start resetting whilst playing - no pattern noticeable.
Checked CPU fan - operating (Jamicon JF0510B1M fan fitted - dont think this is the original).
Pretty sure the Power Supply is original (Has a Williams Wty void if removed sticker on it)
Anything else to look for ?

Does the power supply completely fail or lose its output slowly ?
Caps ? Do you mean Capacitors on the motherboard ?
Dont really want to spend too much money on a service on an outdated system/board.
The cpu fan is operating & isnt the original - Wont be replacing this.
Next step will be replacing the power supply ( Have half a dozen ATX supplies lying around)
Being an EM guy, not real good at soldering on boards.
I post on both forums (Have for the last 6 years) - Not interested in the politics but enjoy helping out others with the answers to the questions I ask.

a quick try as I got this when first purchased mine. open up the computer and pull out the prism card and reseat it. then give it a try. also is there a thin strip of foam rubber on the top case housing that is used to put a little force on the prism to keep it under tension and seated well.. worth a try as its free
Still loving my Metallica Premium

Don't be cheap, use a good quality new ATX power supply.  New cpu heat sink and fan with quality thermal paste not that cheap white crap.  New 1000uf caps on the motherboard rounds it out.  Only way to have a reliable game that will last.  Or you can send it to me for a service.
