I forget the brand and name of the well sort after scanner people use to scan cabinets and playfield, but I was wondering what does it have over the latest scanners. They seem streamlined and thin. Is it difficult to remove the lid or something. Is that the big problem?

The raised lip on most traditional scanners prevents scanning anything successfully larger than A4.

The HP4670 is the well sort after one that most pinheads use for scanning playfields/cabinets/oversized plastics etc as it has no lip and is relatively portable.

I haven't really kept up to date with this tech but I'm sure these days there are now a number of handheld scanners that would work just as well.
